This mill setting is culturally and historically very significant as it is one of Finland’s oldest still operating industrial establishments. You can purchase the mill’s additive-free products at the mill shop.
´The old mill has many stories to relate...´ just like the Rapio Mill, built by Karl Fredrik Hammaren and nowadays owned by the Härkönen family, which has been in operation since 1812. The mill was originally a tullijauhatusmylly, a mill for grinding only the grain brought in by customers. The fee for grinding was taken in the form of grain, i.e. tulli in the terminology of that time.
The latest story has it that in the summer 2006 Myllyteatteri / Mill Theatre will be presenting the play ´Nuoruustanssi´. This play tells of the unforgettable first love of the two people and the pain of their separation. A cast of renown has been engaged: Anja Pohjola, Ossi Ahlapuro, Sanna Saarijärvi, and Turkka Mastomäki. Welcome to enjoy this top-standard theatre presentation in a wonderful mill setting!
